AKSERC Engages NERC to Advance Electricity Regulation in Akwa Ibom State

Members of the Akwa Ibom State Electricity Regulatory Commission (AKSERC) were received on Tuesday, 30/06/2026, by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) in Abuja, for a strategic engagement on the development of the State’s electricity market.

The AKSERC delegation was led by the Chairman/CEO, Ms. Arit Uya, alongside the Vice Chairman, Dr. Kalu Ukoha, and Commissioners Dr. Valerie Obot, Engr. Ubong Etukudoh and Mr. Paul Okon.

As Akwa Ibom State prepares to assume regulatory oversight of its intrastate electricity market under the Electricity Act, 2023 and the Akwa Ibom State Electricity Law, AKSERC is committed to building on NERC’s regulatory experience while shaping a framework that is fit for, and adaptable to, the peculiar needs of our State and its people.

The Chairman of NERC, Dr. Musiliu Oseni, commended AKSERC for its proactive engagement with key stakeholders and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to supporting AKSERC through data sharing, technical assistance, and sustained collaboration necessary for the successful development of the Akwa Ibom State electricity market.
